SmartestEnergy is a UK-headquartered next-generation energy company, founded in 2001 to aggregate independent renewable generation projects and grown into a globally minded operator across the UK, United States and Australia. Headquartered at The Columbus Building, 7 Westferry Circus, London E14 4HD, the business is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Marubeni Corporation (a Fortune Global 500 trading house, currently No. 173) and is registered in England and Wales as SmartestEnergy Limited (Co. No. 3994598). In 2025 SmartestEnergy expanded into continental Europe through the acquisition of Spanish energy supplier Factorenergia, which now sits inside the SmartestEnergy Group.
