About Simplyhealth
What is Simplyhealth?
Simplyhealth has been "improving access to healthcare for all in the UK" since 1872. It offers health plans that let individuals and families claim back the cost of dental check-ups, eye tests, physiotherapy and more, alongside a 24/7 online GP service; dental plans through Denplan, its network of member dentists; and health plans that businesses provide for their employees. It says more than a million people trust it with their healthcare. Simplyhealth has no shareholders, donates at least £1 million to charity every year and says its profit supports health charities across the UK. In 2022 it became the first UK health insurer to earn B Corp status.
Where will I work?
Simplyhealth's head office is in Andover, Hampshire. Its "smart working" approach starts from the line "We're interested in what you do and how you do things, not when and where you do them": many day-to-day tasks can be done remotely, and people come together in person for collaboration, training, inductions and team briefings. In practice, "you'll visit the office at least once a week, though some roles may require more frequent office time." Current openings include a Business Resilience Manager in Andover and practice support roles working with Denplan's member dentists.
What is the Simplyhealth team like?
Its values include "Courage & Curiosity" and being "Altogether Healthier", and colleagues who live them are celebrated through the LOVE awards. Everyone has three volunteering days, which can also be used for team social events, and colleagues quoted on the careers site describe regular, useful internal training, being "trusted to do my job in the best way I can without being micromanaged", and a company that promotes work-life balance "from the top down". One says the office is "still like a big family 14 years on from when I started".
Work-Life Balance
Everyone gets "28 days' annual leave – for everyone, plus bank holidays on top", with the option to buy an extra seven days or carry up to five days over each year. Wednesday afternoons are kept free of meetings every week ("meet free Weds PMs") so people can get things done, and under smart working many roles need only one office day a week.
