What is Sandia National Laboratories?
Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) is one of three National Nuclear Security Administration research and development laboratories in the United States. Established in 1949, Sandia is managed and operated by National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell International, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Sandia's primary mission is to design, test, and assemble the non-nuclear components of nuclear weapons, ensuring the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear stockpile. Beyond nuclear deterrence, the lab works on around 70 areas including national security, energy, climate, cybersecurity, and biosciences. It has campuses at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in Livermore, California.
Where will I work?
Sandia's primary campus is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a second major site in Livermore, California, plus smaller facilities elsewhere. Most roles are onsite due to classified work, but the lab supports incidental telecommuting, long-term telecommuting and virtual work where business needs allow.

Work-Life Balance
Sandia offers a 9/80 compressed workweek as part of its standard suite of flexible work options. Employees on the 9/80 schedule work 80 hours over nine business days (nine hours on eight days and eight hours on one day) and take every other Friday off. Other options include the standard 40-hour week, a 4/10 pilot in California, adjusted start times, and various forms of telecommuting.
