About Rover
What is Rover?
Rover runs an online marketplace that connects pet parents with sitters, walkers and other pet carers. Its adverts say "We connect pet parents with trusted pet care across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia." and describe a company "Headquartered in Seattle and Barcelona". Wikipedia says "Rover was founded in 2011 in Seattle" and that "The company was publicly listed on the Nasdaq from 2021 until 2024, when it was taken private by Blackstone"; it also cites "about 555 employees". The adverts add that "We’re investing in AI as a business accelerator and provide every team member access to AI tools".
Where will I work?
The live Lever board has 33 roles: 15 in Seattle, 11 in Barcelona, 6 remote roles in Spain (a Zendesk application admin and analyst, plus four Trust and Safety agent roles on Mon-Fri or Tue-Sat patterns) and one remote role in the US. All 11 Barcelona adverts, written in English, carry the flexible-hours wording below. Nine of them fix the office days: "This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Barcelona Office in the Poblenou neighborhood two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays." Two engineering adverts also say "This role is approved for Sponsorship and provides relocation assistance to Barcelona."
What is the Rover team like?
The company describes itself as "a values driven, fast-growing tech company focused on building safe and personalized experiences tailored to the needs of each unique pet". The Barcelona product adverts say "We work as truly empowered product teams; no top-down roadmaps or Executive feature requests here." and ask for people who are "not afraid to rock the boat". The Barcelona adverts cover product, engineering, finance, marketing analytics and IT, and the Lead Product Manager role is described as joining "Barcelona-based product team focused on accelerating the growth of our international markets". Perks listed in the adverts point to a social, dog-friendly culture: "Dog-friendly office" and "Regular team activities, events, game nights, and more".
Work-Life Balance
Ten of the 11 Barcelona adverts carry this wording, with small variations: "Flexible work hours, sometimes you'll need to be in at certain times, but on the whole, we're pretty flexible when it comes to managing workload and time". The Director of Product Management advert is more direct: "Flexible work hours. We trust you to get your work done, and are not watching what times you're coming and going". The wording is a soft promise rather than a policy: it admits fixed times will sometimes apply, and nine of the adverts set two fixed office days a week (Mondays and Thursdays). The wording appears only in the Barcelona adverts; the Seattle adverts mention "Flexible PTO" but no flexible-hours statement. Barcelona adverts state "25 days PTO" (the Director advert adds "25 days paid time off, plus public holidays").
