About Riverlane
What is Riverlane?
Riverlane's postings say its "mission is to master quantum error correction (QEC) and unlock a new age of human progress", and that "Riverlane is the world leader in QEC technology". Its about page says "Riverlane was founded in 2016 by Steve Brierley, a senior research fellow in computational mathematics at the University of Cambridge", and that its work is "Building Deltaflow - the real-time quantum error correction system". It adds "We partner with many of the world's leading quantum computing hardware companies, labs and governments. We're backed by the University of Cambridge and leading technology VC firms." Its postings add "Having raised more than $125M in funding to date", and the company's culture page says it offers careers across engineering, quantum science, product and operations.
Where will I work?
Its about page says "Today, Riverlane is over 180 strong with offices in Cambridge, UK, Boston, US and Delft, NL", and its website footer gives "1st Floor, St. Andrews House, 59 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK, CB2 3BZ". The 20 Cambridge postings shown here are headed "Cambridge, UK | Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid", and the Software Tech Lead role is open as "Full-time or Part-time". Its Boston and College Park postings in the United States list "Generous paid time off" with no day count, so they are not shown here. The postings do not say how many days a week are spent in the office.
What is the Riverlane team like?
Its culture page says "Our people are our greatest strength" and describes a team that works "collaboratively every day to research, design, build, and test cutting-edge quantum error correction technologies and tools". Its learning offer is "Regular focus workshops, journal clubs, and access to world-leading quantum experts". Its postings describe "over 20 different nationalities", and its culture page lists values of Collaborative, Pioneering, Curious, Open and User focused. It also lists "Paid volunteering time" among its community initiatives, including an annual QEC workshop aimed at women entering the quantum industry.
Work-Life Balance
Twenty of its 35 postings, all of them full-time Cambridge roles in engineering, research, product, legal, sales support and IT, say "28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave". The eight bank holidays of England bring that to 36 days off a year. The postings sit beside "Hybrid" working and, for some roles, a part-time option, and they promise "training and conference budgets" in a learning environment. Riverlane does not publish a shorter week, a numbered company shutdown or a fixed office rota, and its United States postings give no day count, which is why only the Cambridge roles are shown here.
