What is Rethink Priorities?
Rethink Priorities is a research nonprofit that studies how to do the most good — global health, animal welfare, AI governance and existential risk — producing rigorous analysis used by major philanthropic funders. Founded in 2018, its ~56 researchers and operations staff work remotely across the world.
Where will I work?
Wherever you do your best thinking: the organization is remote-first with staff distributed globally, and roles post as fully remote.
What is the Rethink Priorities team like?
PhD-heavy but pragmatic — economists, philosophers, data scientists and operations specialists who write carefully and publish openly. It's one of the few employers where "impact" in the job ad refers to measurable global wellbeing rather than OKRs.
Work-Life Balance
The leave policy is unlimited with a floor, in the organization's own words: job listings offer "Unlimited (within reason) personal and sick paid and unpaid leave", and its careers page goes further — "We don't limit time off… minimum of 30 days off annually." A nonprofit that mandates six weeks off is practicing the wellbeing it researches.
