About Quora
What is Quora?
Quora is a privately held technology company whose mission, in its own words, is "to grow the world's collective intelligence." Founded in 2009 by former Facebook CTO Adam D'Angelo, Quora today runs two platforms. The first is Quora itself, "a global knowledge sharing platform with over 300M monthly unique visitors, bringing people together to share insights on various topics." The second is Poe, "a platform providing millions of global users with one place to chat, explore and build with a wide variety of AI language models," including leading models such as Claude and GPT-5.5. Together these products sit at the intersection of human knowledge and modern AI.
Where will I work?
Quora is, in its own words, a "remote-first" company that "adopted a remote-first model in 2020." Every role "can be performed remotely," and the company hires across 16 countries spanning North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Being remote-first, "employees can travel while working to almost anywhere in the world." Teams keep "dedicated coordination hours" of 9am–3pm Pacific Time for meetings and live collaboration; "outside of designated coordination hours, team members work asynchronously on their own schedules."
What is the Quora team like?
Quora describes a culture "rooted in transparency, idea-sharing, and experimentation," and a "flat, transparent, and meritocratic" organization. Engineers work on "challenging problems every day" with "a high degree of flexibility and autonomy," and the company notes that "everyone on the engineering team has a significant impact on our product and our company." Quora explicitly values diversity, stating "talent knows no borders."
Work-Life Balance
As a remote-first employer, Quora pairs asynchronous, location-flexible work with fixed coordination hours so collaboration stays predictable. The company offers "Generous PTO & Holidays," recognising "the significance of taking time off to recharge," plus "a shared winter shutdown" when the whole company pauses together. The async-outside-coordination-hours model gives employees real control over how they structure their day.
Perks and Benefits
Quora offers "medical/dental/vision coverage, equity refreshers, remote work reimbursement, paid time off, employee assistance programs, and more." Its careers site adds a "Home office & wellness stipend," a "Coworking space program," "Comprehensive medical plans," budget for "Trainings, licenses, and books," and "Employee activity clubs." Benefits are country-specific and may vary.
