About PDQ
What is PDQ?
PDQ is an endpoint-management software company that helps system administrators deploy software, manage devices, and secure Windows and macOS fleets. Verbatim from the careers page: "Join PDQ and help us make IT device management simple, secure, and pretty damn quick." The product suite spans on-premises and cloud-native tools: PDQ Connect (cloud-based endpoint management), PDQ Deploy & Inventory (on-prem device management), PDQ Detect (vulnerability scanning), SmartDeploy (device imaging), plus ISL Online (remote access) and SimpleMDM (Apple device management).
Culture is built around four named values — collectively the HOCI framework: Honesty ("We're honest with our teams and ourselves — and we don't shy away from tough conversations"), Ownership ("We own our goals and our mistakes. We see our work through to the end"), Collaboration ("We choose curiosity over skepticism. We celebrate differences and are better for them"), and Improvement ("We're humble and coachable — which means we're not afraid of change"). Each quarter, team members nominate a peer who lives these values — verbatim: "The HOCI values champ wins a 1000 dollar bonus (and a pretty sweet trophy)."
PDQ publishes an annual State of Sysadmin report and runs an active community presence through PDQ Live, PDQ Discord, the PowerShell Podcast, and a freely available PowerShell library — all of which feed the company's reputation among practising sysadmins. The DB's incorporated entity is PDQ.com Corporation.
Where will I work?
Verbatim from careers: "PDQ is a hybrid company with offices in Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Bucharest. Many roles have the option to work remotely, and our team is dispersed across the United States and Europe." The Salt Lake City headquarters — at 2200 S Main St STE 200, South Salt Lake, Utah 84115 — includes "a gym, pickleball court, catered lunches, fully stocked snack room, and barista-brewed coffee and smoothies". The Seattle team uses a Bellevue WeWork. Remote roles are open in 20+ US states. Three named-team testimonials place team members in Utah (GAIA, Staff Software Engineer; ODOM, Art Director) and Connecticut (SID, Internal Systems Engineer III).
What is the PDQ team like?
The team includes "folks from all stages of life" — verbatim — "From working parents to young single professionals to seasoned IT pros." Named testimonials emphasise the practitioner-to-product feedback loop: GAIA (Staff Software Engineer) cites "the synergy is outstanding" between engineers and product; ODOM (Art Director) cites "the four-day work week is the greatest and has helped me so much with work/life balance"; SID (Internal Systems Engineer III) cites that "leadership all around has been great at accommodating that so that everyone can do their best work and live their best life." Multiple workplace awards are referenced ("We've earned multiple awards for being a great place to work because we take the time to recognize and reward our employees").
Work-Life Balance
Verbatim: "Four-day work week — That's right — three-day weekends are a way of life at PDQ. And we know how to enjoy our Fridays."
