What is Parafin?
"At Parafin, we're on a mission to grow small businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but traditional banks often don't have their backs." Parafin builds embedded financial infrastructure: its APIs let the platforms small businesses already sell on offer capital, spend management and savings products, underwritten from the platform's own sales data rather than a traditional credit file.
It partners with "companies like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to offer fast and flexible funding, spend management, and savings tools to their small business users via a simple integration", and takes on "all the complexity of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service" on the partner's behalf. Postings describe the team as "innovators hailing from Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, CERN, and more", and state: "Parafin is a Series C company, and we have raised more than $194M in equity and $340M in debt facilities." The engineering team publishes its research openly, including work on a transformer architecture for small business credit underwriting.

One posting spells the pattern out as "Work from home flexibility on Mondays and Fridays". Commuter benefits and free in-office lunches are standard, so the model is clearly an office anchored by a couple of home days rather than a remote-first company.
