About PagerDuty

What is PagerDuty?

PagerDuty (NYSE: PD) is "a leader in digital operations management." Its platform — the PagerDuty Operations Cloud — gives engineering and operations teams real-time incident response, on-call management and AI-assisted automation so they can keep always-on digital services running. The company is "trusted by nearly half of both the Fortune 500 and the Forbes AI 50, as well as approximately two-thirds of the Fortune 100," and earlier boilerplate cites "over 13,000 organizations" as customers.

The origin is part of the culture: "It all started with three Amazon developers in 2009, frustrated by their own on-call experiences." That problem became a category, and PagerDuty went on to a NYSE listing while keeping its engineering-first identity.

Where will I work?

PagerDuty runs "a flexible, hybrid workplace" it calls PD Flex — "we embrace and encourage in-person working as an integral part of our culture," with most roles expected in-office around twice a week. The company "operates a hybrid work model with offices in 8 major cities: Atlanta, Lisbon, London, San Francisco, Santiago, Sydney, Tokyo, and Toronto," and describes its people as "a vibrant global community of 1,200 innovators spread across five continents."

What is the PagerDuty team like?

PagerDuty employees call themselves "Dutonians," and the company centres a "'People First' culture where we prioritize the health and well-being of our Dutonians." Five values frame how the team operates: Champion the customer, Run together, Ack & own, Take the lead, and Bring your self. Growth is structured rather than ad hoc — through "People Development programs… from onboarding to leadership development, skill building, and career mobility," the company aims for "a culture where continuous learning is woven into everyday work."

Work-Life Balance

PagerDuty runs a standard full-time week and is Great Place to Work Certified and on Built In's 100 Best Places to Work (national, 2026). Two company-wide programs stand out: HibernationDuty, an annual break where "everyone at PagerDuty, with the exception of a small coverage crew, will be asked to take a much needed break," and Dutonian Wellness Days, which "provide the entire company the opportunity to shut down… relax, and recharge" — both on top of regular PTO. Parental leave is generous: 22 weeks for the pregnant parent and 12 weeks for the non-pregnant parent, plus 20 hours of paid volunteer time off each year.
