About Our Future Health
What is Our Future Health?
Our Future Health is building "the UK's largest ever health research programme". It describes itself as "a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry", working "closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK". The plan is to "bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK", each completing a questionnaire and giving a blood sample, "to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people's health" — a resource researchers can use to find new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases such as cancer, diabetes and dementia. It is a registered charity in both England and Wales and Scotland, supported by UK Research and Innovation, life sciences companies and disease-related charities. Its own shorthand: "Let's prevent disease together."
Where will I work?
Vacancies run through the charity's Workable careers portal and are advertised in London, around what job ads call "a lovely Central London office in Holborn", with "flexible and remote working arrangements". The registered office is in Manchester. Most postings are listed as hybrid; some technology roles go further and state, "You may work remotely from anywhere within the UK, with occasional travel to London." Head of Product Chloe Hayward-Grant describes it in practice: "The working setup is flexible. I come into the office when it's useful to do so... If I'm not needed in the office, I work from home."
What is the Our Future Health team like?
"We are a rapidly growing team of people who are energised by a shared goal," the charity says. "We work together to solve complex new challenges because we believe that the work we do matters." Teams mix designers, scientists, architects and engineers alongside external partners; live roles span technology, data, clinical operations, strategic partnerships, and ethics, compliance and governance. Programme Operations Manager Nomsa Chari puts it this way: "People here come from diverse professional backgrounds, which makes it an exciting environment to be within. You get to watch everyone pour their expertise into the same pool." On hiring, the charity says, "to help all kinds of people, we need every type of person."
Work-Life Balance
Every current job ad publishes the same leave line: "30 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays – Enjoy a generous holiday allowance with the flexibility to take bank holidays when it suits you" — so bank-holiday days can be moved to dates that actually suit you. Parental leave is enhanced, framed as "Supporting you during life's biggest moments". Wellbeing support covers Mental Health First Aiders, 24/7 online GP services and an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family. Our Future Health does not publish a four-day week, compressed hours or a nine-day fortnight, and roles are advertised full-time.
