About Orcrist Technologies
What is Orcrist Technologies?
Orcrist Technologies GmbH calls itself "a data defence company based in Berlin" that is "100% German-owned, without foreign influence". Its website says "On our own Data Fabric Framework, security institutions model their own domain, connect their own data and build the applications they truly need." The adverts describe "a Kubernetes-based platform delivered as B2B SaaS or as a self-hosted on-prem solution, including air-gapped deployments" for "customers across defense, law enforcement, and enterprise". A June 2026 press release on the site says the company "was founded in Berlin in 2023", "now employs more than 150 people" and "is wholly owned by its founders", and announces that it "has acquired intelligence-technology start-up Lancelot Systems" (the adverts still refer to a "Lancelot team"). The site adds that "Orcrist is a company of Vektor Group, the European technology group behind Orcrist, Civitas Europe and YouTrain." The live Greenhouse board lists 20 roles in engineering (geospatial data, machine learning, mobile, full-stack, infrastructure), product, business development, information security and learning and development. This is security and defence software, and some adverts ask candidates to be willing to undergo a security clearance.
Where will I work?
Almost every role is remote within Germany. The adverts say "Remote-first, Germany-wide: Work from wherever you do your best work, with regular team gatherings in Berlin and other off-site locations." Ten roles are labelled "Remote / Germany", nine "Remote" and one, an infrastructure and systems engineer, "Hybrid / Berlin", which includes hands-on work at customer sites. The legal address in the imprint is Westerlandstr. 13, 13189 Berlin. Most adverts ask for authorisation or eligibility to work in Germany; two ask for "Excellent German language skills" and four mention a security clearance, for example "Eligible to work full-time in Germany and willing to undergo the required security clearance and background checks." Travel varies by role. The Lancelot-team engineering roles say "Travel every 2-4 weeks for architecture reviews and team events", and the business roles ask for willingness to travel: approx. 10-20% (Director of Product), 20-30% (Public Affairs Manager), 25% (Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Manager), 30-40% (Program Manager) and "up to 50%" (Solution Architect).
What is the Orcrist Technologies team like?
The careers section describes "A team from the German Armed Forces, law enforcement and the technology industry, working in Berlin on software that matters." The website lists working principles that include "The decision stays human" and "Talk about limits", and says "We make no promises and communicate clearly what our systems can do and where their limits lie." The adverts ask for people who are "Self-directed, hands-on, and comfortable working without close day-to-day management", and describe the social side as "From summer and Christmas parties to regular team gatherings, we make time to celebrate together." Every new team member "gets a welcome goodie bag". The careers page does not describe an interview process; it invites speculative applications ("Send your CV and tell us how you can contribute to our mission") to careers@orcrist.org, and roles are applied for through Greenhouse.
Work-Life Balance
The adverts carry the same benefits line: "Flexibility by default: Flexible working hours help you make work fit your life." It appears word for word in 19 of the 20 live adverts, and the German-language advert has the equivalent ("Flexible Arbeitszeiten helfen dir dabei, deinen Arbeitsalltag an dein Leben anzupassen"). It covers five teams (engineering, product, business development, internal IT and people and culture) and every location label on the board. Time off is stated as "30 days of vacation: Take the time you need to recharge and come back with fresh energy." No core hours, start and finish times, weekly hours or public holidays are mentioned in the adverts, and the adverts do not say whether the 30 days include public holidays.
