About Ontra
What is Ontra?
Ontra is the leader in AI-powered solutions for the private markets. Powered by industry-leading AI, data from over two million contracts and a global network of legal professionals, Ontra automates critical private-market workflows across the fund lifecycle — turning the unstructured data trapped in static documents into actionable intelligence so firms can accelerate contracts, streamline compliance and automate entity management. Its mission is "to clear the operational fog for GPs by transforming unstructured information into insight, action, and automation." Founded in 2014 (originally as InCloudCounsel), Ontra is now trusted by more than 1,000 global GPs, investment banks, law firms and advisors — including nine of the top ten PEI-ranked firms worldwide.
Where will I work?
Ontra is a remote-first company. As it puts it, "We're remote-first by design, giving you the autonomy to work where you do your best," with office hubs in New York City, Santa Barbara and London for those who want to gather in person. The team stays connected through twice-yearly offsites for in-person collaboration. Ontra hires across the United States and in select international locations (currently the UK and Hong Kong), so where exactly you can be based depends on the role.
What is the Ontra team like?
Ontra is "a remote-first company that values the power of connection," promoting ownership, inspiring creativity and championing collaboration so you can "shape your impact and growth." Its culture is "one where belonging is the cornerstone of every interaction, rooted in acceptance and respect for all," and AI is woven into how the team works every day. Six values guide the company: Act Like Owners, Obsess Over Our Customers, Play to Win, Do the Work, Communicate Openly, and Are Always Improving. Having grown to 300+ employees, Ontra has been certified a Great Place to Work, with 93% of employees saying it's a great place to work.
Work-Life Balance
Ontra backs its remote-first model with a paid flexible time-off policy, company holidays and paid parental leave, giving you genuine autonomy over how and where you work. Rather than expecting people in an office, it brings the team together intentionally — twice a year at offsites — and keeps day-to-day work distributed. Its people-first culture has earned external recognition: Ontra is Great Place to Work–Certified (2025–2026) and a 2026 Best Places to Work honoree, and it ranked on Fortune's Best Workplaces in the Bay Area (2026) and Best Workplaces for Parents (2025).
Perks and Benefits
Ontra's benefits are built to "support your whole life." Highlights from its own benefits snapshot include: a paid flexible time-off policy plus company holidays; paid parental leave; various options for medical, dental and vision insurance; employer-supported retirement contributions (varying by country); a monthly phone and internet reimbursement; and company-sponsored learning and development resources, department budgets for professional development and a robust onboarding program. Most roles also offer equity, and many sales roles add commission. Twice-yearly team offsites round out the remote-first experience.
