What is Luminor?
Luminor describes itself as "the leading independent bank in the Baltics and the third-largest provider of financial services in our region". Its careers page says "We serve the financial needs of individuals, families, and companies" across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and lists "Founded in 2017" and "Co-workers 2500+". The Estonian Financial Supervision Authority's register lists Luminor Bank AS at "Liivalaia 45, 10145, Tallinn, Estonia". The careers page stresses the mix of people: "With over 30 nationalities collaborating daily under one roof".
Where will I work?
The 41 live adverts we read are based in the three Baltic capitals plus two Lithuanian cities: Vilnius (15), Riga (13), Tallinn (11), Kaunas (1) and Klaipėda (1). On the careers page the listed roles are tagged Hybrid, apart from a facilities role in Tallinn marked Onsite. Most roles are in technology (Java, iOS, React, data engineering, IT risk), with others in corporate banking, anti-financial-crime operations, finance, customer experience and internships. Adverts ask for fluent English "due to working on Pan-Baltic level" plus the local language, and say "We are looking for a candidate primarily already located within the Baltics". The same role is often advertised in all three countries, with a separate published salary range for each.
What is the Luminor team like?
The careers page opens with the bank's attitude: "Yes, you can! That's our attitude". It adds: "We, at Luminor, believe that anyone has the potential to achieve big things and we encourage everyone to achieve them – professionally and personally." The adverts describe the working culture as "a team where things move fast, ideas flow freely, and change is part of the everyday", and an engineering advert says "Luminor continues its transformation journey" while "expanding our internal engineering capacity". Teams work across borders: "Teams that go outside Pan-Baltic borders, where people value challenging work together with good humor and having fun".
Work-Life Balance
The careers page lists flexibility first among its offers: "Flexible working hours, hybrid work, and the possibility to work from anywhere in the EU, Switzerland or UK up to 90 days a year." The same line appears in 40 of the 41 live adverts, across technology, corporate banking, operations, finance, retail banking and internships: "Flexibility. Flexible working hours, Hybrid work, and the possibility to work from anywhere in the EU, Iceland, Switzerland, and the UK (in total 90 days per year)". No core-hours window and no number of office days are stated. Leave grows with tenure: "Employees who have been with the company for one year or more receive an additional week of vacation." One role is different: the Riga fraud-monitoring advert says "Work will be organized in shifts where several will be from 5pm to 5am", so that schedule follows a shift rota.
