About Lucid Software
What is Lucid Software?
Lucid Software is the company behind the Visual Collaboration Suite — Lucidchart (intelligent diagramming) and Lucidspark (virtual whiteboarding) — along with airfocus for product management. Founded in 2010 by Ben Dilts and Karl Sun, Lucid describes itself as "the leader in visual collaboration and work acceleration, helping teams see and build the future by turning ideas into reality." Its mission is "to help teams see and build the future faster." The platform is used by more than 100 million people worldwide and is, in the company's words, "the most used visual collaboration platform by the Fortune 500," with customers including Google, GE and NBC Universal.
Where will I work?
Lucid is a hybrid employer. It is headquartered in South Jordan, Utah, with additional offices in Raleigh (North Carolina), Amsterdam, Melbourne and Hamburg, plus fully remote roles in the US and UK. In Lucid's own words: "Lucid is a hybrid workplace. We promote a healthy work-life balance by allowing employees to work remotely, from one of our offices, or a combination of the two depending on the needs of the role and team." Office-based roles typically come in two days a week.
What is the Lucid Software team like?
Lucid is guided by four core values: "teamwork over ego, innovation in everything we do, individual empowerment, initiative, and ownership, and passion & excellence in every area." It calls itself a "people-first" company and emphasizes inclusion, inviting candidates to "come as you are." A signature part of the culture is the Annual Hackathon, where teams build self-chosen projects for a week — and winning ideas often graduate into the product roadmap.
Work-Life Balance
Lucid ties its hybrid model directly to wellbeing, stating it promotes "a healthy work-life balance" by letting employees choose remote, in-office or blended work. Employees receive generous paid time off, a paid sabbatical after 5 years, and paid family leave. This focus on culture has earned Lucid a place on Fortune's Best Workplaces in Technology list — 2025 marked its eighth consecutive year of recognition, an award based on Great Place to Work assessments and employee feedback.
Perks and Benefits
Lucid offers competitive compensation alongside equity grants and comprehensive health benefits. Employees get generous paid time off, a five-year paid sabbatical, paid family leave, and a wellness reimbursement. Professional growth is supported through "personal and career development through Lucid Learning," while team connection is funded via quarterly team activity budgets and the annual company Hackathon. Everyone also receives free lifetime Lucidchart and Lucidspark accounts.
