About Lockheed Martin
Who We Are
Lockheed Martin Corporation is the US aerospace and defense prime contractor whose engineers have spent more than a century designing, building and delivering some of the most sophisticated defense systems in service today. The "One Team. Built to Win." career promise rests on three core values — Do What's Right, Respect Others and Perform With Excellence — that the company surfaces on every careers page and in every job description.
Where Will I Work?
Lockheed Martin operates across four business areas: Aeronautics, Missiles & Fire Control, Rotary and Mission Systems and Space. Roles are based at facilities across the United States — Arlington VA (Corporate HQ), Cape Canaveral FL, Crestview FL, Colorado Springs CO, Fort Worth TX, Fort Belvoir VA, Goleta CA, Herndon VA, Huntsville AL, Moorestown NJ, Titusville FL, and many more — with the option of fully on-site, hybrid telework, or designated remote arrangements ("The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process," per JD).
What is the Lockheed Martin Team Like?
The Lockheed Martin culture organises around three operating norms: Collaborate to Win ("Big missions require tight teams. We work across programs, disciplines, time zones, and work environments… Collaboration is our multiplier"), Accelerate Change ("We operate with urgency and focus… Employees are trusted to make decisions, move with clarity, and create real impact"), and Hear and Be Heard ("Speaking up is expected, and listening is part of leadership"). With "Mission: You" the candidate newsletter, the company invests heavily in talent-network communications.
Work-Life Balance
The careers site states verbatim that "Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits." In practice, individual JDs name the position's specific pattern — for example, the Director, Mission Capabilities role in Arlington VA states "Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week." Other roles are explicitly 9/80 (work 80 hours over 9 days, take every other Friday off), and standard 5/40 is also offered. WA-state JDs disclose accrual specifics: "Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off and receive at least 90 hours for holidays."
