About Lendology
What is Lendology?
Lendology is a community interest company and certified B Corp that provides responsible home improvement loans, working in partnership with local councils across the UK. Since 2003 it has helped homeowners repair, improve and adapt their homes, from fixing leaking roofs and replacing windows and doors to energy-efficiency upgrades and disability adaptations, as well as offering loans for landlords and for bringing empty properties back into use. Every application is reviewed by a real person, and where grants or other funding are available the team explores those first. Lendology is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, holds the Social Enterprise Mark and Fair Tax accreditation, and describes itself as the UK's first carbon neutral lender. It began as Wessex Reinvestment Trust with a simple aim, to support communities through responsible finance, and its latest year was its most successful for lending to date. Its vision: "A world where everyone can improve their lives through inclusive finance."
Where will I work?
At Lendology's office at Heatherton Park Studios in Bradford on Tone, near Taunton in Somerset. The team is based in the office Monday to Friday, with core hours of 9am to 4:30pm, flexible working arrangements and free parking. The current opening is the Case Manager Programme, an 18-month career pathway into specialist lending that needs no previous finance experience.
What is the Lendology team like?
A small team with "ambitious plans for growth". Its values are to be expert, dynamic, supportive and respectful, and it looks for people who share them: "We care more about attitude and potential than previous industry experience." New starters get a comprehensive onboarding programme and quarterly appraisals, and Lendology funds professional qualifications as part of its commitment to training and development. The team takes on community challenges together, most recently completing 100km in a single day.
Work-Life Balance
Everyone works a nine-day fortnight. "While we're a busy bunch, we believe balance matters — so we're proud to offer a nine-day fortnight to help everyone recharge and enjoy life outside of work," the careers page says, and the Case Manager brochure spells it out: "A Nine Day Working Fortnight (meaning every other Friday off!)". Holiday entitlement is above the statutory minimum, with the option to buy or sell one week of annual leave each year.
