About Leapwise

What is Leapwise?

Leapwise is a consulting firm "with a track record of helping leaders across policing, justice and public safety to create and sustain high performance". Its Managing Director, Tom Gash, "set up Leapwise in 2020 because he felt that leaders in the policing, justice and public safety sectors deserved better strategic support to address complex problems". The firm works across three service lines, Strategy and Transformation, People and Culture, and Policy and Partnerships. Its client work includes leading the redesign and delivery of the National Police Wellbeing Survey 2025 for Oscar Kilo, a leadership academy for Avon and Somerset Police, and a staff assessment for the Police Service of Northern Ireland, and its clients include UK police forces, the Home Office, the London Borough of Hounslow and the charity Catch22. Its December 2025 posting describes it as "mission-driven" and as having been founded by "an ex-BCG consultant and prime ministerial adviser".

Where will I work?

Leapwise's address is Thanet House, 231-232 Strand, Temple, London WC2R 1DA. The December 2025 Consultant posting says "Our London office operates on a hybrid model, with three days in-office and one-to-two days working from home", and that consultants "typically work with UK-based clients through a blend of remote and in-person collaboration". Its associates page adds that "you will need to have lived in the UK for at least 3 years to work on most of our projects (this is a residency requirement for obtaining police vetting)". Its careers page says the firm is "currently hiring: Associates", freelance consultants who join projects full-time or part-time for the duration of the project, and the one employee posting we found, the Consultant role on its Freshteam board, carried a 12 January 2026 deadline, so this profile has no live listings.

What is the Leapwise team like?

The posting invites applicants to join "our small but growing team", and the careers page says "Prefer working in a non-hierarchical culture where everyone can contribute their own ideas". It states four values: "We do meaningful work", "We learn and grow together", "We champion decency and openness" and "We give and take ownership". Roles run from Intern and Consultant through Senior Consultant and Manager to Senior Manager and above, and the people page names Managing Director Tom Gash and Senior Managers Dr Tanvi Bhatkal and Valeria Ilies alongside an advisory council and freelance associates. The About page says team members "serve as special constables, sit on charitable boards, or use their working time to support our pro bono offer with charitable partners".

Work-Life Balance

Leapwise runs a nine-day fortnight. Its careers page asks whether you "Value your work-life balance, in line with our 9-day fortnight policy", and the Consultant posting lists "Nine-day fortnight - every other Friday is a non-working day" among the offer, which applies "Subject to passing the six-month probationary period". Neither page gives weekly hours or says how pay is set for the shorter fortnight, so ask about both. The posting adds that Leapwise provides "as much flexibility as we can in our working environment", with "a range of home working options to fit your needs when you are not working at clients". It is a consultancy whose clients are police forces and government departments, and no employee reviews of Leapwise exist on Glassdoor or Indeed to say how intense the project work is.

Perks and Benefits

The Consultant posting published a total package of "c£38,000-£41,500 depending on skills and experience, with a potential sign-on bonus of up to £2,500", alongside a "Performance related bonus tied to individual and firm performance". It lists an "Auto-enrolment pension with 5% employer pension contribution", a "Generous leave policy" with no figure published, "Both automatic and performance related annual pay increases", "Coaching and personal development from experienced leaders" and "Support for any training and development you require to develop in your role".
