About Klarna
What is Klarna?
Klarna Bank AB (NYSE: KLAR) is a Swedish multinational financial-technology company founded in 2005 in Stockholm by Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Niklas Adalberth and Victor Jacobsson. The company pioneered the buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) model and now also offers digital banking, payments and shopping services to 150 million+ consumers across 26 markets. Klarna processes ~$100B+ in annual payment volume.
Where will I work?
Klarna is headquartered in Stockholm (Sveavägen 46), with major hubs in Berlin, London, New York, Mannheim, Madrid, Milan, Toronto, Tel Aviv, Sydney and Amsterdam. Most engineering and product roles are based in the Stockholm-Berlin-London triangle plus the US offices.
What is the team like?
Around 3,800 employees globally across engineering, product, design, data, finance, risk, sales, marketing, customer service, legal and operations. Klarna has consistently been recognised as a top employer in Sweden + the Nordics, particularly for family-friendly benefits.
Work-Life Balance — 100%-Top-Up Parental Leave (the headline benefit)
Klarna supplements Sweden''s 480-day (68 weeks combined) shared statutory parental scheme to 100% pay — the Swedish government guarantees 80% of regular pay through Försäkringskassan, and Klarna picks up the remaining 20% as a company benefit. The scheme is split evenly between parents (each gets ~34 weeks at 100%), and Klarna''s top-up applies globally to its US, UK and European offices too. Sweden''s parental leave can be taken flexibly until the child''s 12th birthday.
For non-Swedish offices Klarna has also rolled out progressive policies — US employees get an extended paid parental leave benefit (announced as part of Klarna''s "progressive parental leave and benefit policy for US employees" 2018 announcement).
