About Kickstarter

Who We Are

Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform and Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to bringing creative projects to life. We help artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and other creators find the resources and support they need to make their ideas a reality. To date, tens of thousands of creative projects — big and small — have come to life with the support of the Kickstarter community.

We believe that art and creative expression are essential to a healthy and vibrant society, and our mission is to help bring creative projects to life. As a Public Benefit Corporation, we're committed to considering the impact of our decisions on society, not just shareholders. If you share our values, we can't wait to hear from you.

Our Team

We're an independent company of about 69 people working together from locations across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Many of us are based in an old pencil factory in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City — a creative space that reflects our values and community.

We spend our time designing and building Kickstarter, forging community around creative projects, and supporting the creative ecosystem around us. We're developers, designers, support specialists, writers, musicians, painters, poets, gamers, robot-builders—you name it. Our team is as diverse and creative as the projects we support.

Over the years, our team has collectively backed more than 50,000 projects (and launched plenty of our own). We practice what we preach and live the creative values we champion every day.

How We Work

We operate as a fully remote workforce with plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues through virtual team events, collaborative projects, and regular communication. We embrace asynchronous work practices that respect different time zones and work styles, allowing team members to do their best work when they're most productive.

We're currently able to support employees based in the following US locations: CA, CT, FL, GA, MA, MD, NC, NJ, NY, OR, VA, and WA. We're also able to support employees in the United Kingdom and Canada (Ontario & British Columbia).

Our Benefits

At Kickstarter, we value work-life balance — it's in our DNA. That's why in April 2022 we launched our 4-day work week pilot, which has since become a permanent feature of how we operate. We've had fairly flexible hours for a long time, but we've now expanded this concept to a 32-hour work week, allowing our team to thrive both professionally and personally.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • 4-day work week (32 hours) — enjoy your weekends plus an extra day every week
  • Asynchronous work practices — work when you're most productive
  • Fully remote workforce with plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues
  • Three percent safe harbor 401(k) contribution — we invest in your future
  • World-class healthcare coverage — comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous time off — 16 paid vacation days, 10 sick days, and a company-wide winter break between Christmas and New Year's
  • 25 annual paid volunteer hours — give back to causes you care about on company time
  • 16 weeks of parental leave plus fertility and family planning resources
  • Equity — share in the company's success as an employee-owner

We're committed to creating an environment where creativity flourishes and our team members can bring their whole selves to work.
