About If/When/How

Who We Are

If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice is a national nonprofit organization based in the United States dedicated to transforming the law and policy landscape to ensure all people can determine if, when, and how to create and sustain families with dignity. Founded with the mission to actualize sexual and reproductive well-being, we provide legal services and advocacy to support individuals in making informed decisions about their reproductive lives.

With a dedicated team of 35 legal professionals and advocates, we work at the intersection of law, policy, and social justice to protect and expand reproductive rights across the nation.

What We Do

If/When/How offers comprehensive legal support and advocacy for reproductive justice across multiple fronts:

Direct Legal Services

We operate the Repro Legal Helpline, a free and confidential service staffed by experienced attorneys who provide legal advice on critical issues including abortion access, youth reproductive rights, birth justice, pregnancy discrimination, and healthcare refusals. This vital service connects individuals with the legal information and support they need during critical moments.

Policy Advocacy & Law Reform

Our team engages in strategic policy advocacy to reshape laws that impact reproductive rights at local, state, and national levels. We work to eliminate coercive and punitive policies in reproductive decision-making, advocating for legal frameworks that center dignity, autonomy, and justice.

Movement Lawyering

We build and support a national network of lawyers, law students, and advocates dedicated to reproductive justice. Through training, resources, and community building, we strengthen the legal infrastructure needed to protect reproductive rights for generations to come.
