About Hiya

What is Hiya?

Hiya is a voice-intelligence and call-protection company on a mission to make phone calls safe, useful, and human again. Spun out of Whitepages in 2016 and headquartered in Seattle, Hiya builds the AI that decides whether your phone is worth answering. Its platform analyzes more than 28 billion calls every month, protecting over 550 million users and 800+ businesses worldwide from spam, scams, and AI-driven voice fraud. Hiya powers caller ID, spam protection, and branded calling through partners including AT&T, Samsung, BT/EE, Rogers, Bell Canada, and Virgin Media O2. The company is growing 40%+ year over year and expanding globally, defining what trusted voice communication looks like next.

Where will I work?

Hiya operates as a hybrid company across three offices: Seattle (HQ), London, and Budapest, with additional commercial roles based in Munich. Teams span engineering, product, marketing, customer success, and sales, and most roles blend in-office collaboration with flexibility. Engineering builds high-performance, JVM/Scala-based data-processing systems on AWS (DynamoDB, Redshift, Kafka) that power Hiya's global call-analysis pipeline. Wherever you sit, you'll work on a product operating at massive scale with direct impact on hundreds of millions of people.

What is the Hiya team like?

Hiya describes itself as a people-centric, fast-growing environment that "challenges the status quo." Five core values guide the team: Serve (hold a high bar for customer trust and quality), Own (share in success, open up to failures), Lead (show up with a point of view, then commit once a decision is made), Improve (change course when needed), and Do ("We are doers, not observers or managers"). The company is explicit that it isn't a passive place: employees are expected to take ownership, form opinions, work through ambiguity, and engage directly with hard problems, supported by a high degree of transparency and autonomy.

Work-Life Balance

Hiya backs flexibility with a flexible vacation policy plus paid company holidays, and paid parental leave for growing families. Its hybrid model pairs in-office collaboration with day-to-day flexibility, and a work-from-home equipment stipend supports productive remote days. Hiya's culture has been externally recognized for employee happiness — it won Comparably's 2025 "Happiest Employees" award and was named to Seattle's Best Places to Work in 2025 — reflecting a team that's energized and genuinely satisfied with how it works.

Perks and Benefits

Hiya offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (PPO & HDHP, with 50% dependent coverage), company-paid life and long-term disability coverage, AD&D and accident insurance, and health, flexible-spending, and dependent-care accounts. Financial benefits include a 401(k) with a 3% company match and equity for every employee. Hiya invests in growth with a $1,000 annual learning-and-development budget and matches up to $1,000/year in charitable donations. Day-to-day perks include team lunches twice a week and a work-from-home equipment stipend.
