About Hermeus
What is Hermeus?
Hermeus is an aerospace manufacturer building hypersonic aircraft — flight at Mach 5+. The company's flagship technologies are the Chimera turbine-based combined-cycle (TBCC) engine, the Quarterhorse uncrewed flight test platform (Mach 4 capable), and the planned Darkhorse crewed defence aircraft. Mission: operationalising hypersonic flight for both defence (rapid-response strategic mobility) and commercial aviation (sub-90-minute transatlantic travel).
Founded November 2018 by ex-SpaceX/Blue Origin/Generation Orbit engineers; headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. ~270 employees as of 2026.
Where will I work?
Most engineering / manufacturing roles are at Hermeus's Atlanta headquarters — hypersonic-aircraft development requires substantial physical-test infrastructure that doesn't go remote. Some corporate / executive / support roles may be remote-friendly.
What is the Hermeus team like?
~270 staff across aircraft engineering (propulsion, structures, avionics, GNC), manufacturing, flight test, business development and corporate functions. The team draws heavily from SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing and traditional defence primes. Strong dual-use-technology ethos.
Work-Life Balance
Every current Hermeus JD states the policy verbatim: "Unlimited PTO (exempt) and generous accrued PTO (non-exempt)". The exempt-only nature of the unlimited policy reflects FLSA classification rules common in the US aerospace industry. Combined with stock options, paid parental leave and end-of-year bonuses, the time-off offering is competitive.
Perks and Benefits
- Unlimited PTO (exempt roles) + generous accrued PTO (non-exempt roles)
- Stock options in a $535M-funded, late-stage private aerospace company
- Paid parental leave
- End-of-year bonuses
- Fully stocked breakrooms (per JD boilerplate)
- Health, dental, vision
- 401(k)
How to Apply
Apply via Hermeus's Lever careers board. 100+ open roles in propulsion, aerospace engineering, manufacturing, flight test, GN&C, executive support and corporate functions.
⚠️ Export Control: many engineering roles state "U.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUS — The person hired will have access to information about controlled technology". These roles typically require US-person status (citizen / permanent resident / protected individual). Confirm individual JD requirements before applying.
