About Her Campus Media
What is Her Campus Media?
Her Campus Media is a media + marketing company built for Gen-Z college-aged women. Founded in 2009 by two Harvard undergrads, it grew from a campus publication into a portfolio of brands — including HerCampus.com, Spoon University, and College Fashionista — plus a marketing-services arm that helps brands reach Gen-Z audiences through digital, social, on-campus events and a network of ~10,000+ contributing student journalists across 1,000+ college chapters worldwide.
Founded 2009. ~80 employees today. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts but operates as a fully remote-US workforce. Effectively bootstrapped — a single $50K venture round in 2011 and profitable since.
Where will I work?
Fully remote within the United States. Every current full-time JD lists location as "Anywhere, REMOTE, United States" — Her Campus Media doesn't require any office days, which is unusually flat for a Boston-anchored media company. Team gatherings happen periodically; day-to-day work is async + distributed.
What is the Her Campus Media team like?
~80 employees across editorial (writers, social-media editors, producers), design (senior designers, design directors), integrated marketing (campaign managers, strategy directors, VP-level), and community (campus & influencer marketing). Heavy Gen-Z-focused creator/editorial culture. The company is woman-led and has stayed founder-led since 2009.
Work-Life Balance
Verified on 5/5 currently-live full-time JDs (100% hit rate; the 6th JD is a contractor role and is excluded as expected):
- "Summer Fridays" — verbatim on every FT JD
- "Flexible PTO and work remotely" — verbatim
- "Extremely generous company holiday policy, with 22 + paid holidays, including 2 floating holidays for 2026" — verbatim
- "Parent-friendly culture, including 15 full weeks of parental leave plus flexible return-to-work" — verbatim
The Summer Fridays headline sits inside a broader benefits boilerplate that also includes 401(k) with matching, FSA/HSA, BCBS health insurance, dental + vision, life insurance and optional short-term/long-term disability.
