Born in 2013, Ghost is a non-profit, open-source publishing platform built for professional creators and independent media. We create modern tools that enable creators to build websites, publish content, send newsletters, and run paid memberships — all while maintaining complete control over their audience, brand, and revenue.

Ghost powers tens of thousands of sites worldwide, from independent writers and journalists to well-known publishers and modern brands. As a recognized leader among online media and publishing solutions, we're committed to giving creators real ownership of their digital presence without platform lock-in or compromising privacy.

Our Team

We've been 100% remote since day one, with a small, distributed team spanning five continents and many time zones. Our approach to work is intentionally different: we operate in calm, focused cycles with few meetings, high trust, and extensive autonomy for every team member.

We consciously stay small (under ~50 people) to optimize for quality of life, product excellence, and true independence — even if third-party estimates suggest otherwise. This deliberate approach allows us to maintain our values while building something meaningful.

Twice a year, we gather for week-long team retreats where we collaborate in person, strengthen relationships, and enjoy time together beyond our screens. These retreats balance productive working sessions with opportunities to explore new places and create lasting memories as a team.
