About Genki

What is Genki?

Genki builds health insurance for people the traditional industry forgot: digital nomads, long-term travellers and remote workers who live across borders. Its two products — Genki Explorer for travel and Genki Resident as full international health insurance — are backed by established carriers (its policies are underwritten in the Allianz ecosystem) and licensed through Germany, sold entirely online, and managed through a clean app-first experience. Founded in 2021, Genki is that rare thing in insurance: a small, profitable, product-led company — "a fully remote, profitable startup of about 25 people," in its own words. The founding insight was personal: the founders were long-term travellers themselves and built the product they couldn't buy — monthly-billed, cancel-anytime cover that works in any country rather than annual policies tied to a home address. That customer empathy shows up in how the team itself is allowed to live.

Where will I work?

Wherever you are, genuinely: "Fully remote, from anywhere in the world & live as a digital nomad if you want to (the country list above are just examples)." The company practices exactly what its product enables — the team is scattered worldwide and collaborates "asynchronously as much as possible," per its own careers page.

What is the Genki team like?

About 25 people — engineers, product, insurance operations — working async-first with "tools like Slack and Jira" instead of meetings, and gathering at "regular team off-sites to connect in person." An honest note: Genki is too small and young for a review-site footprint, so we can't report a work-life-balance rating; its written practices below are what we verified.

Work-Life Balance

"Flexible hours, startup atmosphere" — verbatim in both live adverts — inside an async-first culture where your timezone is an asset, not a problem, plus "25 days paid annual leave" on top.
