About First Intuition
What is First Intuition?
First Intuition (FI) is a UK professional education provider best known for accountancy and finance training. It began in 2007 "with a single thought – to put the learner at the centre of everything", opening a study centre where aspiring accountants would be "treated as individuals and not just a number". Today it teaches the AAT, ACCA, CIMA and ICAEW qualifications, runs accountancy apprenticeships from Level 2 Accounts Assistant to Level 7 Professional Accountant, and has extended into leadership and management and digital marketing programmes. Learners study in the classroom, online, or in live online classes, and FI says more than 12,000 students and 2,500 employers use it each year. It has been PQ Magazine College of the Year six times, and all but one of its centres offering ACCA tuition are Platinum Approved Learning Partners. FI became a certified B Corp in June 2026 with a verified B Impact Score of 114, and it maintains carbon neutral status.
Where will I work?
At one of FI's study centres around the UK and the Channel Islands, from Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds to Manchester, Southampton and Jersey, or at its London centres in Fitzrovia and on Drummond Street. Each centre recruits for its own region. Tutors teach both classroom and online courses, and hybrid working is available with equipment provided for working from home, while centre operations roles such as Office Administrator are on-site. Current openings include tutor roles teaching across Leeds, Sheffield and Hull and in Manchester (£50,000 to £55,000 for a Level 7 Tutor, with eligibility for an annual bonus) and an Office Administrator in Exeter.
What is the First Intuition team like?
FI calls itself "a people business" and takes a "hire for attitude, train for skills" approach: "If you have the right attitude, we can train you for pretty much everything else." It recruits people who are experienced in professional education and people who are new to it, and qualified accountants joining as tutors are not expected to have taught before: full training is given. Its "WE ARE FI" behaviours ask people to take personal ownership, to be flexible and energetic, authentic and collaborative, to keep learning, and to be "Professional when needed, Fun when we can". FI was named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list 2024 for medium-sized companies.
Work-Life Balance
Staff get 25 days' annual leave, rising to 30 after five years' service, plus bank holidays and three "FI Days", which give "paid leave between Christmas and New Year without the need to use holiday allowance" — 36 days a year from the start. Some tutor roles advertise 30 days from the start. FI describes itself as a "Flexible-working positive employer with a range of family-friendly policies", and hybrid working is available.
