About Fairness Project
Who We Are
The Fairness Project (TFP) is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving social and economic justice through progressive ballot measure campaigns. Founded in 2015, we provide strategic, technical, and financial support to grassroots efforts that address pressing issues such as healthcare, workers' rights, and voting access. With a track record of 33 campaign victories, our work has positively impacted over 23 million people across the United States.
What We Do
TFP leverages direct democracy to overcome legislative gridlock and bring transformative policies directly to voters. We incubate new campaigns, provide funding, and offer strategic guidance to help initiatives succeed. Our expertise has supported movements like Medicaid expansion and minimum wage increases, ensuring that vital policies reach the communities that need them most.
Our approach combines deep policy knowledge with grassroots organizing, helping advocates navigate the complex ballot measure process from petition gathering through Election Day. We partner with local organizations and coalitions to amplify their impact and ensure that progressive values translate into real-world policy changes.
Working at The Fairness Project
Our team is a passionate, remote-first group of professionals dedicated to creating tangible change. At TFP, we embrace innovation and collaboration while fostering an environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We prioritize work-life balance and support our team members with generous benefits, flexible schedules, and a commitment to professional growth.
As a small but mighty team of 12, every member plays a crucial role in our mission. The remote-first culture means you can work from anywhere while contributing to campaigns that make a real difference in people's lives. We believe that fighting for social justice shouldn't come at the expense of personal well-being—which is why we've structured our workplace to support both professional impact and personal fulfillment.

Our Impact
Since our founding, we've helped pass transformative policies that have expanded healthcare access, raised wages, strengthened workers' rights, and protected voting rights. Each victory represents thousands of lives improved—from families gaining access to affordable healthcare to workers earning a living wage. Our work demonstrates that when people have a direct say through the ballot box, progressive change is possible even in challenging political environments.
