About Earthjustice
What is Earthjustice?
Earthjustice says it was "Founded in 1971" and is "the nation's leading environmental law organization" in its postings. Its About page describes "200+ full-time lawyers" who "rank among the nation’s foremost legal strategists for the environment", working from "16 offices" alongside research analysts, policy experts and scientists. It represents its clients for free: "We serve more than a thousand public-interest clients", from large organizations to small communities on the frontline of environmental harm. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by individual donors and foundations.
Where will I work?
Its jobs page says Earthjustice takes a "team-centered" approach to hybrid work, "where teams collaboratively shape their unique workflow, including what work location — virtual or in-office — is best for them and the tasks at hand." Its postings of 9 October 2026 follow that: an Associate Attorney role in Los Angeles "requires in-person attendance", a Senior Attorney role in New Orleans "requires at least two days per week in-person", an enforcement role "requires two days per week in an Earthjustice office", and a Project Attorney role in Seattle or San Francisco "requires regular in-person attendance". Others are tagged remote: the Donor Engagement Specialist, Travel role "may work remotely in the Contiguous U.S." with offices in San Francisco, Washington, DC, Denver or Bozeman preferred. Two of the postings state a full-time week of 37.5 hours.
What is the team like?
The About page says "Justice, partnership, inclusion, and excellence define us", and its benefits page opens with "Live Well, Work Well". It offers benefits to "all staff who work at least 20 hours per week", pays "100% of all health and welfare benefits premiums for the employee", and runs an annual all-staff gathering in San Francisco.
Work-Life Balance
Its benefits page lists "15 paid holidays per year", including "a year-end closure between December 25 and January 1", plus "2 days of civic engagement leave, 2 floating holidays, and 1 birthday holiday per year". Employees "accrue up to 15 days of vacation per year for the first 5 years", rising to 20 days in years 6 to 10 and 25 days from the 11th year. That is 33 days of vacation, holidays, floating days and a birthday holiday before civic engagement leave, and full-time staff also receive "12 sick days per year". Staff with 10 years of service can take "up to 6 weeks of fully paid sabbatical leave", and Medical or Family Leave pays "up to 16 weeks" after 6 months of service.
