About Dixons Academies Trust

What is Dixons Academies Trust?

Dixons Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust in the north of England whose stated purpose is "to challenge educational and social disadvantage in the North". Its signed 2026 Gender Pay Gap Report describes Dixons as "a multi-academy trust employing 1,757 permanent staff (Dec 2025) in 16 schools and 1 college", spanning primary, secondary, all-through and sixth-form provision. The trust is explicitly values-led, naming "work hard, be good, be kind" as its three fundamental values, and calls itself "a talent first organisation" that invests in its people "with a strong focus on coaching and development".

Where will I work?

Dixons academies sit across Bradford, Leeds, Liverpool and Greater Manchester, with central functions at Ripley Street in Bradford. Most roles are school-based, but business services are not: the trust states that "many of our roles in business services are hybrid or remote, with the option to work from our central office in Bradford or a school near home". Teachers are additionally offered "remote working during non-contact time", including planning, preparation and assessment time made "manageable from home or another remote location".

What is the Dixons team like?

Vacancies run teaching and associate (support) roles side by side — subject teachers alongside learning support assistants, behaviour support workers, MIS data managers, academy administrators, governance officers, technicians and site staff. Dixons has deliberately decoupled pay from appraisal: "at the start of the 2022/23 academic year, our trust ended the link between pay progression and performance management", with main-scale teachers and support staff now progressing automatically each year through their pay range, extended to upper-pay and leadership scales in 2024. Development runs through coaching rather than annual review — "all staff receive personalised coaching at least every four weeks" — supported by the trust's Centre for Growth.

Work-Life Balance

The headline policy is the nine-day fortnight: "At Dixons, we offer a nine-day fortnight for all teachers across our trust to support greater work-life harmony." It was "introduced in 2024 across all Dixons schools" and "gives teaching staff one day off each fortnight, while maintaining full teaching time for students". Twelve months on the trust reports a "43% reduction in staff turnover", "518 fewer sickness absence days" and a "12% increase in applicants", and confirms the policy continues through the 2025/26 academic year.

Associate staff have their own published offer. "All term-time only staff benefit from a 193-day attendance calendar while remaining on full pay equivalent to 195 days, alongside up to two paid personal days each year for significant life events", plus "excused attendance from selected planning or data days", "early finishes" and "hybrid working opportunities where operationally possible". Workload is managed through whole-class feedback, shared central curriculum resources and an explicit rule that "we always limit the amount of meetings that our staff are in".
