What is Discord?
Discord is a communication platform "used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there's one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games." Over 90% of users play games, spending "a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month."
Discord's mission is to "shape the future of gaming" — building "the perfect place to talk while playing games on any platform, no matter what device you play on." Founded in 2015 by Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, the company has grown into one of the most-used social platforms in gaming, expanding into Quests, advertising, and Nitro subscriptions while staying anchored on community and voice/text chat for gamers.
Where will I work?
Discord's HQ is in San Francisco, with a major European office in Amsterdam. The company operates a "flexible hybrid model" — "we believe great work can happen anywhere, whether in person or virtually. Our flexible work model empowers our people to choose where they work best: at home, in one of our offices like our San Francisco HQ, or a mix of both."
Most roles are SF Bay Area-based, with select remote roles across the U.S. Limited additional hiring in Canada (ON/QC/BC), the Netherlands, UK, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and Brussels for specific functions.
What is the Discord team like?
