What is Dementia UK?
Dementia UK calls itself "the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family". Its About page says its specialist nurses are "known as Admiral Nurses" and "provide free advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one", through its Helpline, virtual and face-to-face clinics and in the community. Its What we do page calls it "the only UK-wide charity dedicated to specialist dementia nursing", and its vision is "A world where no one faces dementia alone – where everyone gets the specialist support they need." Since "our merger with YoungDementia UK in 2020" it has also run a young onset dementia programme. Its current vacancies span marketing, database services, public affairs, governance and a helpline and clinics leadership role.
Where will I work?
Its vacancies give each role a location line. Most read "hybrid – a minimum of one day a week in our Aldgate, London office", the Business and Governance Manager role asks for "a minimum of two days a week", and the Head of Helpline and Clinics role is "remote – homebased". Its careers page lists "Flexible working options; including hybrid working, flexible working patterns such as part-time, compressed hours and more", with the note "*Please note that any decision on flexible working is based on business needs". What is the Dementia UK team like?
Its careers page says "We are a passionate and nurturing organisation and have a highly committed and friendly workforce". It says it was "recognised as the Sunday Times Best Place to Work in the non-profit and charities sector 2025 (big organisations)", and lists four values: collaboration, compassion, ambition and integrity.
