About DataEQ
What is DataEQ?
DataEQ turns unstructured customer and public data into labelled, structured intelligence for large organisations. Its home page says "AI and humans label your data, delivering a structured stream of reliable intelligence", and presents three tools: Analyse, an insights and analytics tool used to monitor, measure and benchmark customer experience; Engage, a social customer service platform; and Publish, a content management tool. The about page says the company has been on this mission since 2007, with deep expertise in financial services, telecoms and retail, and clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Its case studies name Discovery Bank, Virgin Active, DHL and rain, and the home page states it is certified and compliant with ISO 27001, GDPR, POPIA and PDPL. Companies House shows the UK group company, DataEQ Limited, was called BrandsEye International Limited until February 2022.
Where will I work?
Three of its adverts describe DataEQ as a fully remote company, the two newest adverts and the careers page say remote-first, and the careers page is headed "Own your future, from anywhere". The live adverts on the board are all for Cape Town, South Africa. One advert says: "Whilst our team is located around the world, the bulk of our team are based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa." Local colleagues can use co-working spaces in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and the adverts describe an optional "Together Tuesdays" get-together in a co-working space, plus monthly drinks. The contact page lists two locations, Cape Town, South Africa and London, United Kingdom. The UK group company has its registered office in London (International House, 64 Nile Street), and the privacy policy lists two South African group companies, DataEQ (Pty) Ltd and DataEQ Consulting (Pty) Ltd. Which city counts as headquarters is not stated on the pages read on 6 November 2026.
What is the DataEQ team like?
The about page lists five principles: autonomy, empathy, intelligence, integrity and curiosity. The adverts describe a dynamic and inclusive culture, and one calls it a tight culture that encourages curiosity, innovation and freedom while demanding intellect and performance. The developer advert describes a small dev team building the analytics, social engagement and crowdsourcing platforms, working across front-end and back-end code with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, React and Vue.js. The client service adverts describe account managers who own a portfolio of clients in sectors such as financial services and telecoms, and the enterprise sales advert covers Southern Africa, the UK and the Middle East. Teams keep in step through regular company status meetings and team updates, and the careers page mentions regular co-working sessions and team activities.
Work-Life Balance
The hours wording is in three adverts, for a software developer, a senior account manager and a senior machine learning engineer (posted 28 May 2024, 30 May 2024 and 19 December 2024 according to BambooHR): "We are a fully remote company where you will have the flexibility to manage your own time because we focus on outcomes over inputs." The careers page adds: "Balanced Flexibility: Achieve your best work while maintaining balance, with flexible schedules and open communication to support both your career and life." No core hours are stated, and no number of weekly hours is given. Two more adverts describe a flexible, remote-first work culture with flexibility and autonomy, and one advert lists meeting-free days without naming a day. Generous annual leave is listed in every advert, but the number of days is not stated. A birthday lie-in and long-term service compensation after 5 and 10 years are also mentioned.
