About DataCamp
What is DataCamp?
DataCamp is an online learning platform for data and AI skills. Its job adverts state that "DataCamp's mission is to empower everyone with the data and AI skills essential for 21st-century success" and describe joining as "becoming part of a dynamic, creative, and international start-up". The most recent advert says it is "a trusted partner to over 19 million learners and 8,000+ companies", "including 80% of the Fortune 1000"; older adverts quote smaller figures. Built In lists its headquarters as New York, founded in 2014, with offices in Leuven (Belgium) and London and 504 employees listed. The live Greenhouse board has 40 postings, many of them the same role posted once per country, across Engineering (13), Learner Product (12), Marketing (8), Sales and Customer Success (4), Legal, Media and Communications, and Finance and Accounting. Typical roles are Principal AI Engineers working on an "AI Creator" and an "AI Tutor", Curriculum Managers, Learning Solution Architects and enterprise sales roles.
Where will I work?
Postings are open in Belgium, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the United States (including New York), Argentina and Brazil, with Dubai listed on some. Several roles are remote: the Principal AI Engineer adverts say "This role can be done remotely from anyone of the following; United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Portugal OR UAE", and the Curriculum Manager adverts mention "a remote-friendly culture". The enterprise sales adverts say "we gather teams into one of our offices a few times a year to stay connected" and offer a "Yearly IT Equipment budget towards your home working set up", plus "Delicious lunches on DataCamp when you're at the office". Other roles are office-based: the London Events Marketing Associate is "Based in London and working from our office" with four office days each week and regular travel to events across EMEA. Check each advert for the arrangement.
What is the DataCamp team like?
The adverts say DataCamp looks for people "who embody our core values of data-driven decision-making, action, transparency, ownership, and customer focus" and who "thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment". The AI engineering adverts talk about "small, high-ownership teams". Teams are spread across several countries, and the adverts promise "international company retreats, fostering a global team spirit". Most adverts also include a line inviting candidates to join "a truly exceptional team".
Work-Life Balance
Hours flexibility is a stated benefit in 32 of the 40 live postings, across six functions (Engineering, Learner Product, Marketing, Sales and Customer Success, Legal, and Finance and Accounting). The most common wording is "Flexibility: Benefit from flexible working hours because the future is flexible!". The Curriculum Manager adverts say "Benefit from flexible working hours and a remote-friendly culture", the Engineering Manager adverts say "Flexible working hours and location", and the Product Engineer adverts say "Flexible hours". No core hours or start and finish times are defined. For time off, US adverts list "flexible time off" and, in one case, "Unlimited PTO", plus paid holidays and paid sick time; the adverts for other countries do not state leave. The Learning Solution Architect adverts also note a job-specific "Flexible schedule to support time zones (this is not a 9 to 5)".
