About Common Future
Who We Are
Common Future is a network of leaders (re)building an economy that includes everyone.
Our work unites wealth-holders and wealth-builders across the U.S. and Canada to advance a more equitable economy. As a key intermediary reimagining our shared future alongside a network of local leaders, we are a platform for bold ideas, an aggregator of community capital, and a strategic advisor for leading national players.
Our Work
We imagine a future where people, no matter their race or ethnicity, have power, choice, and ownership over the economy.
We work with people who hold enough imagination and courage to rethink our economy—all while building the power and influence to bring to life initiatives that build power and ownership in BIPOC, rural, immigrant, and working-class communities. We then influence key sectors—across philanthropy, impact investing, government, and corporations—by showing them how to do the same.
Our Team
Common Future is only as strong as its people. Everyone has something unique to contribute to the big task of shifting wealth and power into marginalized communities. We are more than a team—we're a collective of community leaders, funders, expert faculty, and entrepreneurs.
In 2020, 92% of nonprofit CEOs in America, along with 83% of staff and 78% of nonprofit boards were white. Common Future is Black-led, with 80% BIPOC staff and an 80% BIPOC board. Our leadership composition reflects our values and the communities we serve.
