What is CodeWeavers?
CodeWeavers builds the software that lets Windows applications run on Mac and Linux. It invented CrossOver, "a completely unique approach to cross-platform compatibility that does not require dual-boot or another OS license", launched PortJump "to help app and game developers broaden their market beyond Windows® users", and runs ExecMode "to help organizations solve really ugly technical challenges." Its developers work on CrossOver, on Proton, "our collaboration with Valve", and on other Wine-based projects, from "making AAA games run smoothly to getting the weirdest Windows enterprise software you've never heard of working on macOS or Linux." The company is based in St. Paul, Minnesota, and its employees take part in CodeWeavers' Employee Owned Trust. It puts its mission bluntly: "there is no such thing as a closed platform. software was meant to be liberated."
Where will I work?
In St. Paul or remotely, depending on the role. In September 2026 the Wine Developer role was open to St. Paul "or Remote", while the Office Manager role is "100% On-site" in St. Paul. Staff outside the United States get a "Flexible Work Environment (Remote-first, no set hours)", and Minnesota-based employees get public transportation reimbursement.
What is the CodeWeavers team like?
"We're rebels. We're misfits. But mostly, we're software liberators," the about page says, adding: "We're not for everyone." Engineering roles expect people who are "self-motivated and ready to dive into a massive, ever-evolving codebase": "We keep things pretty lightweight on management, but we take our code seriously. If you like solving complex problems in elegant ways and doing it with a bunch of smart, sarcastic, collaborative people, you'll probably like it here." CodeWeavers also believes "in building up the open source community" and "the next generation of talent". Hiring is refreshingly direct: "We don't use an applicant tracking system or a CRM. We believe in real people connecting with real people." Candidates email a résumé and a note about themselves.
Work-Life Balance
"We work hard, go home on time and enjoy what we do." Full-time staff in every region get "20 Days Paid Time Off (PTO) Annually", "6 Paid Holidays Each Year" and "5 Additional Paid Company-Wide Closure Days in December", 31 days in all. Outside the United States, work is remote-first with no set hours.
