About Codesphere

What is Codesphere?

Codesphere describes itself in its job adverts as "a Virtual Cloud Provider from Germany building the future of sovereign cloud infrastructure", whose platform "gives enterprises and governments full sovereignty without giving up modern cloud capability". Its website says Codesphere "owns no servers, yet upgrades any infrastructure to an enterprise-grade cloud, vendor neutral, portable, and sovereign by design". The Company page lists 60+ team members, more than $39M in funding, 4+ offices and 10+ nationalities, and the adverts say the company was founded in Karlsruhe in 2020. In May 2024 it announced an $18 million Series A led by Creandum, which then put its total raised at $26.5 million. LinkedIn shows a privately held company in the 51-200 employee band. The live Ashby board has 12 adverts: Go-To-Market (5), Product and Engineering (6) and Business and Operations (1), covering bid management, project management, solution architecture, partner management, sales, backend and site reliability engineering, product management, security and compliance, and two working-student roles.

Where will I work?

The website says "Codesphere's main base of operations is in Karlsruhe, Germany", and the Company page adds that "Much of the product development and engineering teams are rooted here". A second office in Munich is described as "our second base of operations to service the DACH market"; the footer also lists a Berlin address, and the FAQ mentions registered addresses in Munich and New York. Of the 12 live adverts, 10 are in Karlsruhe, one is in Munich and the Site Reliability Engineer role is "Remote (Germany)". Office roles are hybrid: the Technical Bid Manager advert asks for someone "Based near Karlsruhe or Munich, comfortable with a hybrid setup", and the Product Manager Deployments advert says "comfortable with ~50% on-site presence". The adverts add that "both offices are within walking distance of tram and metro stops" and mention a "free in-house gym in Karlsruhe".

What is the Codesphere team like?

The adverts describe "an international team of 60+ experts", and the Company page counts 10+ nationalities. They promise a "fast-moving environment, real ownership, and a front-row seat to scaling a company". Backend engineers "own complex features end to end", "conduct code and technical design reviews" and "mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to a culture of learning and growth". The Technical Bid Manager and Product Manager adverts both stress that these are "not a coordination role", with the bid manager writing "substantial parts of the proposal" for regulated-market tenders. The CEO Office working-student role works "directly with the CEO", and both working-student adverts say the company aims "to bring you on board permanently after graduation". Employee events run "from team offsites to regular get-togethers".

Work-Life Balance

Ten of the 12 adverts, spread across Go-To-Market and Product and Engineering, list "Flexibility – hybrid work setup with mobile work options and flexibility around core hours" among the benefits. The two working-student adverts say "Study-first flexibility – easily adjust your working hours around lectures and exam periods, combined with our hybrid work setup". The adverts do not say what the core hours are, and the company has no separate careers or benefits page beyond the Ashby board. The ten non-student adverts also state "32 days of paid time off – 30 regular vacation days plus Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve off". The Site Reliability Engineer advert includes "24/7 on-call participation", which is specific to that role.
