What is CloudNC?
CloudNC makes AI software for precision machining. Its core product, CAM Assist, "speeds up CNC machining by tackling the most time-consuming and repetitive parts of the process, from machining strategy to toolpath generation", and it works inside CAM packages such as Autodesk Fusion, Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidCAM and GibbsCAM. CloudNC says CAM Assist is "trusted by over 1,000 machine shops around the world" and saves the typical shop more than 1,000 hours a year; Quote Agent, an AI tool for quoting and estimating, is due later in 2026. Theo Saville and Chris Emery founded the company in 2015, and it develops and tests its software in its own aerospace-accredited (AS9100D) factory, where it uses CAM Assist to make components for industries including aerospace, space, nuclear and defence. It raised a $45 million Series B led by Autodesk in 2022, with Lockheed Martin and British Patient Capital joining, and a further $20 million led by Nimble Ventures in September 2026; it opened a Shanghai office in May 2026.
Where will I work?
It depends on the role. CloudNC's headquarters are at 1 Norton Folgate in Spitalfields, London, and its factory is at Clock Tower Retail Park in Chelmsford. Of the roles open in September 2026, two software engineering roles in the UK are hybrid, and new starters get on-site training in factory operations; in the US, a CAM programmer and an onboarding and support manager are remote and a business development representative in Austin is hybrid; and a marketing machinist works on site at the Chelmsford factory. The onboarding role is "Fully remote within the US. We are a UK company with a growing US team, and the working week is already built around UK and US overlap". What is the CloudNC team like?
"Chris and I like working with good people on difficult things that matter," Theo Saville writes on the careers page. The founders' aim is "to assemble teams of smart, kind, committed people around a mission of consequence, and to remove all barriers to getting great work done." The team combines expertise in computer science and physical manufacturing, from C++ and TypeScript engineers to CAM programmers and machinists, and CloudNC says it does not expect software engineers to arrive with prior knowledge of manufacturing. Its values are Obsessive, Bias to Action, Audacious, A-Players ("We hire from the top 10%"), Kind and resolute, and Solve the real issues. Theo Saville is chief executive and Chris Emery chief scientist; chief technology officer Andy Cheadle was previously chief engineer at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence. Saville was named in the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 for manufacturing and industry, and in MIT's 35 Under 35 in 2023.
