What is CIPFA?

CIPFA — the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy — is the only professional accountancy body in the world that focuses exclusively on public finance. Founded in 1885, CIPFA serves around 14,000 members working across central and local government, health bodies, audit agencies, regulators and the wider public sector. The institute sets professional standards, awards the CIPFA Professional Qualification, and provides advisory, training, and research services to public-sector organisations across the UK and internationally.

CIPFA's work spans public financial management standards, governance frameworks, counter-fraud (CIPFA Counter Fraud Centre), audit support, and capacity-building in emerging economies. Its International division partners with governments worldwide on PFM reform.

Where will I work?

CIPFA operates a hybrid model with offices in London (HQ at 77 Mansell Street) and Chester. Most roles are advertised as London- or Chester-based with hybrid working — typically a mix of home and office days each week. Some specialist consulting and training roles involve travel to client sites in the UK and overseas.
