About Chevron
Who We Are
Chevron Corporation is an integrated energy major headquartered in Houston, Texas, that traces its roots to 1879. The company is publicly listed on the NYSE (CVX) and operates across the full energy value chain — upstream exploration and production, midstream infrastructure, downstream refining and marketing, and a growing lower-carbon portfolio. In July 2025, Chevron completed its acquisition of Hess Corporation, adding Hess's Bakken, Gulf of Mexico and Guyana positions and integrating legacy Hess employees onto Chevron pay and benefit plans effective January 1, 2026. The combined company expects run-rate cost synergies of $1 billion by the end of 2025.
Where Will I Work?
Chevron's US-payroll workforce operates across corporate, field and refining locations, with the legal HQ at 1400 Smith St in Houston. Corporate office roles are eligible for the Balanced Workplace Program (BWP), implemented in 2021: three core days working in the office and two days working from home. Field operations roles remain primarily on-site.
What is the Chevron Team Like?
Chevron defines its purpose as "taking bold steps to innovate for a lower-carbon future" — the company describes its workforce as innovators who help reshape global energy systems. The HR Work and Life portal frames flexibility as voluntary at both the department and employee level, encouraging supervisors and HR business partners to discuss the right schedule for each role.
Work-Life Balance
Chevron's official HR Work Schedules page lists three flexible options: 9/80 compressed workweek (nine 9-hour days every two weeks, with one day off every other week — either Friday or Monday — depending on Crew A/B/C/D rotation), 4/10 compressed workweek (four 10-hour days each week, one day off every week), and flextime (adjust the start of your workday around established core hours). Remote work and part-time employment are also offered where business needs permit. Holiday handling is built into the compressed model: "If your scheduled day off is a Friday, the holiday is observed on the day before your scheduled Friday off."
