About CaptivateIQ

What is CaptivateIQ?

CaptivateIQ builds sales-commission and sales-planning software. In its own words it is "transforming the way companies plan, manage, and optimize sales performance. We started by revolutionizing incentive compensation management, and now we're expanding our platform to solve broader sales planning challenges." The pitch to customers is "Automate commissions and deliver a better Return on Incentives". The company was "Founded in 2017 by seasoned sales operations pros" - Mark Schopmeyer, Conway Teng and Hubert Wong - is "Headquartered in San Francisco, with $164.6M in funding from Sequoia, Accel, ICONIQ, Sapphire, Bessemer, Foundation Capital, Workday Ventures, Y Combinator and other leading investors", and is "Trusted by more than 800 customers worldwide".

Where will I work?

Mostly remotely, but within a named geography rather than anywhere on earth. Current postings on CaptivateIQ's own job board are scoped as "Remote - US", "Remote - Poland", "This is a fully remote opportunity", or "Hybrid (in-office 3 days per week) - Austin, TX", with some sales roles specifying "Midwest, East Coast, including Toronto, Canada". Engineering describes itself as "an engineering team of multicultural, highly collaborative, fully distributed, humble learners", and its management roles are written around leading "a distributed team of Engineers, fostering a culture of high trust and psychological safety". San Francisco remains the registered headquarters.

What is the CaptivateIQ team like?

Five published values shape it: "Operate with clarity", "Be an owner", "Deliver impact", "Lead with empathy" and "Bias towards action". The company expands on the first as "We understand our goals, objectives, and expectations. We communicate effectively and transparently. We establish clear roles and responsibilities", and on the last as "We experiment, test, and learn by taking small steps and iterating rapidly." Its stated hiring philosophy is that "the best workplaces are the ones with exceptional people solving challenging problems." Employee resource groups - EmpowerHER, APAC and Parenthood - are "voluntary, employee-led groups designed to support the shared identities and experiences of our diverse community".

Work-Life Balance

CaptivateIQ frames its whole package around flexibility: "We strive to offer you the flexibility and rewards that you need to do your best work, recharge, and continue to develop your craft." Time off is described as "flexible PTO and quarterly mental health days to reset" - flexible, note, not unlimited; the company nowhere uses the word "unlimited". For the distributed engineering group, working across time zones is handled deliberately: one engineering-manager posting makes it a core responsibility to "Champion inclusive, async-first practices to ensure the team, distributed across Poland and other regions, can collaborate effectively." There is no mention of a four-day week, a 32-hour week or compressed hours anywhere on the site or the job board.
