What is the California Dental Association?
The California Dental Association (CDA) is a membership organization that represents 27,000 of "the state's best and brightest dental professionals" and champions the oral health of the communities they serve. Founded in 1870, it is the largest state dental association in the U.S., and one in six members of organized dentistry in the country belongs to it. Its mission is "to support our members in their practice and service to the public through innovation in education, advocacy and related programs". Where the state's Dental Board licenses and regulates, CDA's role as a professional association is to deliver advocacy, education, expert guidance and resources to California's dentists, and with the CDA Foundation it pursues oral health initiatives across the state. It has grown into a family of companies: the association, The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC), which a small group of CDA members founded in 1980 in response to skyrocketing malpractice premiums, TDIC Insurance Solutions, Rotunda Partners and the CDA Foundation.
Where will I work?
CDA describes a "remote first work environment with occasional travel and in office meetings", with technology and stipends to support remote work. Its headquarters is on K Street in downtown Sacramento, "minutes from the state Capitol", and remote and hybrid options are both on offer. Some roles ask you to be in the Pacific time zone. Its current openings are in the legal team, as corporate counsel and in legal operations, and in insurance finance at TDIC.
