About Brabners

What is Brabners?

Brabners is a leading independent law firm, "proudly anchored in the North since 1815" and serving clients across England and Wales. It is a certified B Corp, a commitment the firm describes as meeting "high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability". Its practice covers commercial, corporate, data protection, employment, family, immigration, intellectual property, litigation, private client, real estate and regulatory work, for clients ranging from multinational brands to social enterprises, SMEs, families and individuals. It also runs its own charity, the Brabners Foundation, alongside a stated mission to "make the difference".

Where will I work?

The firm has "five modern offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Lancashire and London" — the Lancashire base is in Bamber Bridge near Preston, and the London office is its newest, in the City. Brabners says that from these offices "our people have the choice to work remotely and flexibly to best support our clients' needs". Its own job adverts put it this way: "We offer agile working at Brabners, recognising that the right balance between office-based and remote working will vary depending on the role, the team and individual circumstances", with the arrangement for each role discussed during recruitment.

What is the Brabners team like?

With over 600 colleagues, Brabners calls itself "not your typical law firm", with "a highly collaborative and flexible work environment" where people "are driven by output, not targets". Progression runs through a career pathways programme offering apprenticeships, secondments, mentoring and training, and inclusion work is driven by five colleague action groups: B.Pride, Enable, Empower, REACH and Social Mobility. One associate writes: "I work alongside ambitious, driven and (most importantly) kind and selfless people who want you to succeed and celebrate you being yourself, rather than having to fit a mould."

Work-Life Balance

"We embrace agile and hybrid working with generous time off, fostering a supportive and flexible culture," the firm says. "Our people are trusted to manage their time and encouraged to work with their managers to balance business and personal needs — whether at home or in the office, results matter most. Because circumstances differ, flexible working options are also available." Holiday starts at 25 days plus bank holidays and increases through a loyalty recognition programme; colleagues can buy and release up to ten days a year, and bank holidays "can be used flexibly, allowing our people to take them when it suits their schedule". Two paid "My Days" sit on top of annual leave, and emergency, compassionate and parental leave is available for caring responsibilities and unexpected events. Volunteering leave supports work with the Brabners Foundation. This is a five-day week — current adverts give core hours of Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
