Its homepage says it delivers open-source AI, R and Python solutions, cloud-based statistical computing environments and SAS-to-open-source migration to speed up drug development in regulated settings, and claims that "8 out of 10 largest pharmaceutical companies use Appsilon services." Its careers site describes the day-to-day work as "interactive and user-friendly applications for exploring and visualizing data", with custom-made solutions in R and Shiny alongside wider data-science expertise. The work is project-based: the team builds dashboards, applications and R packages for clinical data analysis, and Delivery Managers and Business Consultants run those engagements with clients. Appsilon is a software and consulting business rather than a staffing firm, and every role on the live board is a white-collar one in engineering, platform, delivery, sales or marketing.

The careers site says "Our team consists of PhDs and industry experts", with a cross-domain mix of skills from computer science to biostatistics, genomics and data science.
