About Airbnb
What is Airbnb?
Airbnb is a global online marketplace for lodging, experiences, and tourism activities, founded in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home. The company has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed more than 2 billion guest arrivals across nearly every country on the planet.
Listed on NASDAQ (ABNB) since 2020 with a market capitalization exceeding $78 billion, Airbnb has transformed the travel industry by enabling anyone to become a host and offering travelers unique, local experiences. The platform spans everything from city apartments to countryside villas to treehouses and beyond.
Where will I work?
Airbnb introduced its groundbreaking "Live & Work Anywhere" program in 2022, allowing employees to live and work from anywhere in the country where they're employed — without any impact on their compensation. Employees can also work temporarily from over 170 countries for up to 90 days per year. The policy offers three modes: primarily remote, primarily office, or a mix, and employees can change their choice once a year.
What is the Airbnb team like?
With approximately 7,300 employees globally, Airbnb fosters a culture of belonging, creativity, and bold ambition. The team spans engineering, design, data science, policy, and hospitality across offices in San Francisco, Seattle, and other major cities. The culture is deeply connected to the company's mission of creating a world where anyone can belong anywhere.
Work-Life Balance
Airbnb's Live & Work Anywhere program is one of the most progressive flexibility policies in tech. Employees receive 20 days PTO starting out, increasing to 30 days after 2 years. The company offers a 6-week paid sabbatical after 5 years of service with a $2,000 stipend to make the most of it. There are also quarterly travel credits, volunteer time off, and a genuine emphasis on rest and recharging.
