At Ecare, you won't be building yet another isolated software system. You will be building PUUR. Behandel: new functionality that allows practitioners and care teams to collaborate from a single client record. No separate care and treatment records, but information and functionality centered around the same client in one place. You aren't starting from a blank slate. The platform, architecture, customers, and key core functionalities of PUUR. are already in place. At the same time, the new product team is just getting started. That is exactly where your role comes in. ##### The role As an AI First Software Engineer, you will work in a new multidisciplinary team with a Product Owner, a healthcare domain expert, an architect, QA, and another software engineer. AI First means that at every step of the development process, you consciously assess what AI can add. From analysis and design to programming, testing, code review, and data issues. You use AI where it helps you develop faster or better, and you consciously choose a different approach when that is wiser. In doing so, you remain responsible for the quality yourself and you understand and control what you deliver. In the first product phase, the team will work toward a usable pilot in approximately 4.5 months. We are not trying to build everything at once. Together, we will determine a feasible scope and develop treatment functionality that is safe, works in daily practice, and forms a good foundation for further development. You will be involved in: - Developing new treatment functionality within PUUR. - Building with C#, .NET, and React within our Azure environment. - Connecting to the existing architecture, platform services, and client data. - Using AI for tasks including analysis, programming, testing, code review, and data issues. - Assessing when AI is and is not the best approach. - Checking, testing, and maintaining control over software developed with the support of AI. - Contributing ideas regarding technical choices, priorities, and scope. - Collaborating with practitioners and care organizations to test functionality in practice. What makes this role different from many other software positions: - AI is not an experiment alongside your regular work, but a fixed part of your development process. - You are not just adding new features to an existing product. You are helping to build a new product domain from the start. - You don't have to set up a complete platform first. The technical foundation is there, allowing you to build the product quickly. The challenge lies in the balance: you pick up the pace and maximize the use of AI, but you remain responsible for quality, safety, and maintainability. ##### What makes this role interesting - You help build PUUR. Behandel from the start. - You bring care and treatment together in one client record. - You work on an existing technical foundation and on a completely new product domain. - You have significant influence on how the new team uses AI. - You work with modern technology such as .NET, React, and Azure. - You work together with a Product Owner, domain expert, architect, QA, and software engineers. - You have direct contact with the practice for which you are developing. - You work toward a product that will actually be used in a short period of time. - You see directly what your work means for practitioners, care teams, and clients. - You have approximately three to four years of relevant experience as a software engineer. - You have experience with C#, .NET, and backend development. - You have experience with React and are willing to work full-stack. - You have experience with Azure, CI/CD, DevOps, and automated testing. - You have been using AI daily in professional software development for at least one year. - You have actually brought software to production where AI was part of your development process. - You can explain when you do and do not use AI. - You understand and check the code you develop with the support of AI. - You think about architecture, quality, and maintainability. - You adapt easily when new AI tools or working methods prove to be more effective. - You communicate clearly and enjoy working intensively with others. - You have a good command of the Dutch language. - You are willing to work at Ecare in Enschede for an average of half of your working time. Experience with healthcare software, an electronic client record, or treatment records is a plus, but not a requirement. This is not a position for an AI or machine learning specialist who develops or trains models. We are looking for a software engineer who has demonstrably integrated AI into their daily way of developing.
