Assistant Site Manager

You are responsible to your Line Manager stated below for the execution of your individual job responsibilities.

You shall:

  • support your Manager and the staff under your control.
  • maintain a good working relationship with Client and associated personnel.
  • manage and control your section of the work according to agreed programmes and
  • be conversant with all drawings, specifications, and related information for these works.

To cover your absence from site during holiday periods, you are to handover your duties to a delegate agreed with your Line Manager.

Responsibilities

The Site Engineer shall be responsible to the Delivery Project Manager for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all construction activities on site. Apart from Health and safety obligations the Site Engineer duties include but are not limited to:

  • Liaison with the Site Manager, Safety Supervisor, Safety Advisor and Environmental Manager to ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met.
  • Liaison with the Project Team to produce:
    • Method Statements
    • Weekly Programmes
    • Inspection and Test Plans and Check Sheets
    • Daily Diaries
    • Setting Out
    • Update and maintain the site loadings drawing
  • Arrange for the design and checking of Temporary Works.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Safety

We expect you to implement and maintain all Safe Systems of Work in-line with the Costain Way and any relevant client standards ensuring that those that we work with and others and the Environment around us are not adversely affected by our activities.

Quality

  • Promote a positive Quality culture of Do It Right, first time, every time.
  • Comply with the Costain Way Must Dos and gates.
  • Complete Quality records and process control documents (as required by role) eg. Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Planning, testing regimes, Quality readiness reviews.
  • Report any non-conformance to generate timely action and prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively assist with improvement.  Investigate where significant failures have occurred to identify root cause and learning opportunities, Lessons learnt.

System Management

You are responsible for implementing and maintaining the Contract Management Plan requirements for your section of the works. This shall include the generation of System Records that show compliance with the Plans. This may include auditing and surveillance.

Your attention is drawn to the Policy and Objectives Statements for  this project.

Be aware of their content. These Policy Statements may be seen on the Main Notice Board and site notice board.

Authority

Your authority is that detailed in the current issue of the signature authorisation list.

  • Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering and relevant professional experience
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS
  • Driving licence
