About The Role

Shop Manager

Location: Cambridge (Furniture & Electrical)

Salary: £26,437 per annum

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: Permanent

Be the driving force behind something bigger than retail.

Step into a role where your leadership transforms lives, not just sales figures. As the face of the British Red Cross in your community, you’ll inspire a passionate team, create a vibrant shopping experience, and turn donated furniture and electrical goods into vital support for people in crisis. If you’re ready to lead with purpose, energise a team, and make a real difference every single day, this is your opportunity to do more with your retail expertise.

"Nothing beats the feeling of the team pulling it out of the bag to excel. Generating funds for a worthwhile charity that helps such a wide range of humans is wonderful.” **-**Nada, Shop Manager

What will a day in the life of a Shop Manager involve?

Your day will be as dynamic as it is rewarding.

  • You’ll lead from the front, inspiring your team and volunteers to deliver a warm, welcoming, and memorable shopping experience for every customer.
  • Whether you’re on the shop floor showcasing unique finds or coordinating activity behind the scenes, you’ll thrive in a role where no two days are the same.
  • You’ll bring creativity to life by designing an inviting shop layout that tells a story and connects customers to the British Red Cross mission.
  • As a natural leader, you’ll take ownership of performance ; driving sales, achieving targets, and developing your team through coaching, training, and support. Every decision you make will reflect our values, ensuring your shop remains a vibrant hub at the heart of the community.

To be a successful Shop Manager, what will you need?

  • You’re someone who brings energy, initiative and a genuine passion for people. You’ve got experience in retail, at supervisor or manager level. You know how to create a great customer experience while confidently handling the day‑to‑day operations of a busy shop.
  • You’re a natural leader who brings out the best in others. Whether you’re supporting volunteers or developing your team, you know how to motivate, coach and build confidence so everyone can succeed.
  • You’re commercially minded and love a challenge. Hitting targets excites you, and you’re always looking for new ways to grow sales, improve performance and make your shop the best it can be.
  • You’re comfortable using IT systems and keeping things organised behind the scenes, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Most importantly, you believe in what we do. You’re passionate about the British Red Cross and ready to champion our cause, making your shop a place your community feels proud to support.
