Xponent21 is seeking a Senior Account Strategist to lead client engagements, shape full-funnel marketing strategies, and help mid-market businesses accelerate growth through intelligent, forward-thinking marketing.

In this hands-on, client-facing role, you’ll uncover business opportunities, shape brand and marketing strategies, and lead cross-functional teams in executing impactful, insight-driven campaigns. We’re looking for a strategic thinker who can translate complex challenges into bold, measurable action plans, and roll up their sleeves to bring those plans to life alongside the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic engagements by conducting discovery, research, and insight development to shape brand, marketing, and communications strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, acting as a proactive, reliable strategic partner who drives confidence and long-term value.
  • Conduct market, audience, and competitor research to inform business planning, content strategy, and digital campaign development.
  • Guide clients in defining target audiences, mapping customer journeys, and aligning messaging to each stage.
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies that align with business objectives and audience needs.
  • Develop integrated digital marketing programs that may include SEO, content marketing, paid search, email marketing, and video content strategy.
  • Present strategies and campaign recommendations that align with client goals and demonstrate business impact.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client goals, partnering with internal teams to manage timelines, budgets, and communications as needed.
  • Analyze account performance, identify growth opportunities, and adjust plans as needed to meet or exceed targets.
  • Prepare performance reports and lead regular client check-ins to review results, gather feedback, and align on next steps.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective execution of strategies, alignment on performance metrics, and consistent reporting across all touchpoints.
  • Actively contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional team environment by sharing ideas, owning your part of the work, and supporting the success of others.
  • Contribute to the team’s ongoing integration of AI SEO techniques, including generative content planning, intelligent keyword strategies, and data-informed content optimization.

Skills Required

  • 5+ years in external account strategy or client services roles with strong strategic responsibility.
  • Previous experience in an agency or consultancy environment, with exposure to a wide range of client challenges, business models, and digital needs.
  • Proven success developing and implementing SEO strategies across all dimensions, including technical SEO (with working literacy in HTML/CSS), content optimization, link building, and local search.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Ads and paid media strategy within a broader digital marketing ecosystem.
  • Deep understanding of digital channels including organic search, paid search, social media, email, and video — with applied knowledge of CRO methodologies and marketing analytics.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI SEO approaches, such as using large language models (LLMs), generative tools, and AI-informed keyword or content workflows, with a demonstrated interest in learning and applying emerging techniques.
  • Experience with analytics and reporting platforms such as GA4, Looker Studio, Semrush, or SE Ranking.
  • Exceptional client communication and presentation skills; ability to distill complexity into clear, persuasive messaging.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills for strategy plans, briefs, and performance summaries.
  • Confidence in leading senior-level client conversations and adapting strategies based on performance insights and evolving needs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with creative, development, and client services teams to bring integrated strategies to life.
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and digital trends, especially the application of AI in marketing strategy, with a desire to lead clients into the future of digital performance.
