About Beacon

At Beacon we’re a growing technology startup building the best nonprofit-focused CRM in the world. We passionately believe in the power of technology to make a difference.

Chris and David, both software engineers, founded Beacon in 2017 to build a new kind of charity CRM using the latest technology and design principles.

Now over 1,500 innovative charities around the world trust Beacon to run their core technology infrastructure. Animal welfare, human rights, disaster relief, cancer support - all powered by Beacon. You can see a quick demo of our product, here, and find out more about our features here .

We have doing good at the core of our mission, but we're also profitable, owned by the founders, and our goals are for long term sustainable growth - not making a quick buck for venture capitalists.

At Beacon we're building a great brand on top of a great product that our customers love. In a recent survey by Fundraising magazine we were rated 4.9/5 for customer service, and 97% of our customers would recommend us. This is what product-market fit feels like - it's time to grow!

Responsibilities

You will be joining our expanding sales team as the primary engine of our outbound revenue growth. Your main focus will be proactively identifying and generating new business by engaging with and nurturing previously unreached stakeholders, alongside qualifying warm inbound leads for our Customer Development Managers (CDMs).

You will receive expert training from our SDR Team Lead, mastering outbound sales mechanics, cold calling, and structured sales methodologies. We need someone who is tenacious, diligent, highly coachable, and ready to take ownership of their pipeline.

You will:

  • Design and execute highly tailored, multi-channel cold outbound campaigns (via phone, email, LinkedIn, and video) to establish a presence in priority charity accounts.
  • Consistently hit and exceed daily activity metrics (calls, emails, connections) to generate a high volume of Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs) and booked meetings for the CDM team.
  • Confidently execute cold calls, gracefully handling and overcoming initial reflex objections to earn the right to ask questions.
  • Execute high-quality discovery calls for both cold prospects and inbound enquiries, asking probing, open-ended questions to uncover deep business pain and urgency.
  • Ruthlessly qualify all leads (using frameworks like BANT) to protect CDM time and ensure we are only evaluating strong fits.
  • Manage your pipeline and daily workflows efficiently within Beacon.
  • Partner with Marketing on targeted outreach campaigns and represent Beacon at sector events to build brand awareness and capture leads.

Requirements

The best outbound SDRs are methodical, deeply curious, and highly resilient. We are looking for commercially driven professionals who are determined to master top-of-funnel SaaS sales results in a business dedicated to doing good.

You will need:

  • A proven ability to consistently hit or exceed activity and pipeline generation targets, specifically in a cold outbound environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in a B2B sales development role, or a high-volume, outbound-heavy role.
  • Professional courage to reach out to new people, the curiosity to work through initial hurdles, and the ability to steer discovery calls toward meaningful solutions.
  • A confident, friendly demeanour. Our customers are charities, and part of Beacon's brand is being smart and charming, but you must balance that with the commercial confidence needed to challenge the status quo.
  • Flawless written English, with the ability to write compelling, tailored cold outreach that cuts through the noise and generates high response rates.
  • High coachability with a strong desire to learn structured sales methodologies (like Sandler and Challenger).
  • A strong interest in the technology sector and the ability to quickly understand software value propositions.
  • A genuine passion for the charity sector and making a difference.

Working together

If you don’t live in London but would be happy to relocate, we can pay up to £4,000 (tax free) to help with your relocation costs.

We passionately believe in doing our part to address the tech sector's diversity problem

We believe that in building diversity we build strength.

We encourage everyone with the required skills to apply, we consider building a diverse and representative team to be critical to our success, and we actively pursue building a more diverse team.

We have a banded salary system to ensure that nobody is paid differently for the same role. Salaries across the organisation, including executive pay, are entirely transparent.

Our parental leave policy provides for 12 weeks of full pay, and can be taken by any parent, regardless of their new parenting circumstances.
